Rooted In The Alps
Reconnecting with Alpine Landscapes Through Presence, Movement, and Respect
Rooted in the Alps is a ten-day residency in the Bernese Alps designed for travelers who want to reconnect with nature without urgency or performance. Based in a single alpine valley, the journey unfolds through walking, optional biking, and time spent among rivers, waterfalls, pasture, and mountain paths. Days balance shared experiences with individual choice, allowing each guest to engage with the landscape at a pace that feels sustainable. Rather than pursuing distance or summits, the focus is on presence, environmental respect, and developing a meaningful relationship with the mountains. This small-group journey through the Swiss Alps is designed for travelers seeking flexible hiking, time in nature, and a slower, more intentional way of experiencing alpine landscapes.
Your Week at a Glance
The journey is based primarily in one alpine valley, allowing guests to settle into the landscape rather than move continuously. Days follow a steady rhythm that alternates between valley walking, lift- or train-accessed mountain routes, and lighter recovery days. Several experiences are shared as a group, while others offer multiple options so guests can choose the level of activity that suits them. Time in the mountains is balanced with rest, unstructured exploration, and shared meals. A midweek anchor day brings the group together for a dramatic but accessible alpine experience, followed by optional extensions. The final days ease the pace, creating space for reflection and choice before departure. The journey suits nature lovers who enjoy walking and light to moderate hiking, with options to scale activity up or down each day.

Day 01
Departure - Long Travel Day
Guests make their way to Switzerland. This is a full travel day with arrival the next morning.
Day 02
Arrival and Orientation
The group arrives at the alpine base and settles into the surrounding landscape. The day is intentionally gentle, focused on orientation, short walks, and time near rivers and waterfalls. Movement is optional and flexible, allowing guests to arrive at their own pace and begin adjusting to the rhythm of the mountains.
Daily options range from gentle walks to more demanding routes, with no requirement to complete every activity.

Day 03
Elevation and Perspective
Using train or lift access, the day introduces higher elevation and expansive views. Guests may choose between viewpoints, shorter walks, or longer ridge routes, with easy exit options throughout. The emphasis is on experiencing scale without pressure or performance.
Day 04
Linear Scenic Walking and Mountain Villages
Attention shifts to scenic, flowing routes that prioritize continuity over elevation gain. Linear paths, village time, and open landscapes shape the day, creating space for confidence, ease, and steady movement rather than challenge.

Day 07
A Day Shaped by Choice
Guests shape the day according to their interests. Options include revisiting favorite areas, exploring independently by train, spending time in nature near the base, or resting. There is no group agenda, allowing autonomy without disconnecting from the shared journey.
Day 08
Closing the Week Gently
The final full day is intentionally calm. Short walks, optional biking, river time, and unstructured space allow experiences from the week to settle. The journey concludes with a shared final meal.

Day 09
Transition Day
This is the final day of the shared journey. Guests may remain at our base through the evening and overnight, enjoying a final quiet morning or unstructured time in the valley.
Guests with early international departures on Day 10 may choose to travel independently to their departure city on this day and arrange their own overnight accommodation near the airport. Swiss rail reliability allows flexibility depending on individual flight schedules.
Day 10
Departure
Independent departure from guest chosen airport.
