Villages, Vines, and Vosges
Village life, vineyard paths, and the quieter edges of Alsace
This journey moves between village streets and vineyard paths, returning each day to Strasbourg, a city shaped by walking, cycling, and shared public life. From the wine route to the foothills of the Vosges, we explore how geography, belief, and borders have shaped Alsace. Strasbourg provides the wider frame, from medieval cathedral to modern Europe, allowing smaller places to be understood in context. The pace is intentional, grounded in time spent on foot and in conversation rather than distance covered.
Your Week at a Glance
The days below outline how the journey unfolds, balancing guided exploration with quieter moments and flexibility. Based in Strasbourg, each day moves outward into villages, landscapes, and lesser-traveled parts of the region before returning to the city. The rhythm is varied and intentional, creating space for movement, rest, and personal discovery across the week.

Day 01
Departure - Long Travel Day
Guests make their way from the U.S. to Paris. This is a full travel day with arrival the next morning.
Day 02
Strasbourg
We arrive in Strasbourg and walk together into the city’s layered history. Moving from older neighborhoods to the Neustadt, we read how empire and culture shape place before crossing toward the river and city heart. The day closes with a gentle stroll past canal edges and through softly lit streets.

Day 03
Strasbourg: History, Belief, and
Daily Life
This day draws us into Strasbourg’s rhythms. We explore a local market when available, enter sacred spaces that speak of faith and architecture, and move through neighborhoods that reveal daily life. There is time for observation, quiet conversation, and a pause in one of the city’s green spaces before we return on foot.
Day 04
Southern Alsace: Villages and
Vineyard Paths
Leaving Strasbourg, we travel into the wine corridor and enter village and vineyard land on foot. Paths carry us through cultivated slopes before we arrive into compact village cores and open views. The day unfolds slowly between soil, sky, and settlement, and we return to Strasbourg in the late afternoon.

Day 05
Northern Alsace and the Vosges Edge
Today we explore the northern reaches of the region, where forested hills and open hilltops mark a shift toward high country. The emphasis is on walking and seeing — without hurry or compression
Day 06
The Vosges: Land, Water, and Use
This is a day in the Vosges foothills and lake country. We move into cooler forest air and past still waters, pausing to walk near open land and to share a picnic. Time here is not measured in places checked off but in experience held and absorbed.

Day 07
Lowland Alsace: Wetlands and Water
On this day we enter the lowlands, where water defines land and settlement alike. Our movement follows gentle channels, with a focus on observation and quiet presence. The pace is slow, the horizon broad, and the sensation different after days of hills and villages.
Day 08
Strasbourg at Your Own Pace
A free day in Strasbourg offers time to revisit favorite places, to shop, or simply to rest. Optional ideas include a local market, the historic wine cellar beneath the old hospital, or a short train ride to a nearby town, all at your discretion.

Day 09

This morning is unprogrammed, a chance to take a last walk, have a quiet meal, or begin the journey to your departure city. Most guests travel by train in the afternoon, though earlier departures are possible for those headed onward.
